Seniors (all classes): Final Exams/Final Projects

May 19, 2008

The last assignment of the year for you is to create an online resume. Include the following sections:

  • Skills
  • Education
  • Employment
  • Awards and Honors
  • Extracurricular Activities
  • Performances/Shows
  • Work Samples
  • Scanned and uploaded Letters of Recommendations if you have them.

You can create this as a blog with a post for each category. You are not required to publish it to the world, but you are required to save the posts, so I can check them. For seniors who need to take a final exam with me, this will serve as your final. For all others, it will be a regular assignment.

The purpose is to gather this information so you can keep it updated after you leave the Arts Academy. Please do that! It will make your lives easier when job opportunities come up with short notice if you have this information gathered in one place.

Assigned May 16, 2008. Due May 23 2008.

Assignment 22 (Multimedia I): Image Maps

April 24, 2008

Create a single page with an image map. The main design should be done either through a composed photo, or in photoshop (or a combination of the two). There is not much coding involved in this project; it’s a visual design project. Map out at least 3 areas of the image and create links from them. Your grade will be based primarily on the image itself, with some points for making it function properly and for the overall concept.

Assigned: 4/24, due: 5/2.

Assignment 21 (Multimedia I): Inline Styles

April 24, 2008

Normally I recommend using an external style sheet, however if you have style elements which will only affect a single page of a website, you may wish to put your style elements in the head of that one html page. For this project, you will create a new page (not redo an existing one), with the style elements in the head of the document.

Assigned: 4/17, due 4/25.

Assignment 20 (Multimedia I): Redesign the calendar page

April 24, 2008

Using the same style sheet you used to redesign the home page of the AAW site, redesign the AAW calendar page. The style should match the overall look of the index (home) page. Think about rules of design, and making the most important information come forward.

Assigned 4/14, due 4/16.

Assignment 19 (Multimedia I): AAW redesign

April 24, 2008

Redesign the AAW website stylesheet. This will be turned in through the 1st hour folder on our network.

I’m looking for a pleasing color scheme, readable fonts, good contrast, a new banner design. You can rearrange items on the page as needed. Make sure to do all the edits on the style sheet, not the html page.

Assigned 2/26, due 4/14.

__ Designed with chunks

Save this to the first hour folder.

Assignment 17 (MMI): Cascading Style Sheets

February 27, 2008

Create an html page with an external style sheet. Your pages should have:

1) strong contrast between text and background

2) readable fonts

3) alignment that follows design principles

4) at least one image (photo or graphic) that you create as part of the design. (Not a photo within a page, but part of the page layout itself)

5) design with “chunks” – break your page into logical areas, such as a navigation area, possibly a side bar, etc. Differentiate between headers and body.

6) at least one “div” tag used to position an element on the page.

7) at least 3 separate “id” tags used to create separate styles for different elements on the page.

Turn these in to the first hour folder.

Due Feb 29.

Assignment 14 Reprise (MMI): 3rd Group Scavenger Hunt

January 28, 2008

I’ve changed the due date on the last set of ten images for the scavenger hunt to Feb 14. This is a FIRM date. Because it’s an extension of a previously assigned project, there will be no further extensions, even if you are sick during this time. This should have already been submitted, the extension moves it into the third marking period.

To get credit for this assignment, you must give your post a title of “3rd Group Scavenger Hunt.”

(There is no extension on the other images in the scavenger hunt).

Assignment 16 (MMI): Sound Editing

January 24, 2008

Using an audio file, edit a person’s words to change what they are saying. You can move one section of what they are saying earlier or later in the audio track, or you can delete a word or words. I am looking for a smooth edit, so that when I listen to the file, I don’t hear an awkward cut.

Due: Jan 30
